Survey

Information about the survey

What is this survey about?

This survey is part of the European project CyberSecure Teaching. The project addresses the question of how teachers, schools, vocational education and training institutions, and teacher education institutions can be better supported in addressing cyber-security, cyber-awareness and cyber-hygiene in everyday educational practice.

The focus is not on specialist technical knowledge, but on everyday school and pedagogical practice: Which digital risks do teachers and learners encounter? Which topics are already being addressed? Where are materials, training, guidance or institutional support missing?

What do cyber-security, cyber-awareness and cyber-hygiene mean?

Cyber-security

Means protecting people, devices, networks and data against digital threats such as phishing, malware, data misuse or unauthorised access.

Cyber-awareness

Means being aware of digital risks, recognising typical threats, and using digital technologies attentively and responsibly in everyday school life.

Cyber-hygiene

Describes simple but important everyday practices for greater digital security – for example, using secure passwords, performing regular updates, handling links and attachments carefully, and protecting personal data.

Who is the survey for?

The survey is aimed at:

  • teachers in general education
  • teachers in vocational education and training
  • people training to become teachers
  • teacher educators

Who benefits?

The survey primarily benefits people and institutions in the education sector who work with digital technologies and are expected to teach digital safety. This includes:

  • teachers, educators, and future teachers
  • schools and educational institutions
  • students and learners

The more clearly the actual experiences and needs from practice become visible, the more targeted the development of materials and support can be.

Why does this survey exist?

Digital technologies have become an integral part of school, teaching, vocational education and teacher education. At the same time, they create new challenges: personal data must be protected, digital tools must be used safely, students need guidance in dealing with online risks, and teachers need suitable support for their teaching.

The survey is intended to help us better understand:

The results will feed into the further work of the CyberSecure Teaching project, especially the development of materials, training opportunities and support formats for different educational sectors.

What will be asked in the survey?

The survey consists of several short sections. First, you will be asked whether you agree to the processing of the anonymously collected data and whether you belong to the target group of the survey.

After that, the survey covers topics such as:

Depending on your professional role, a few additional specific questions will be shown at the end, for example for teachers in general education, teachers in vocational education and training, or people involved in teacher education.

  • No IP address is stored.
  • No questions are asked about gender, age or place of residence.
  • You will only be asked for the country in which you work.
  • Only the time of participation and survey language are stored.

The results will be analysed and used exclusively within the framework of the CyberSecure Teaching project.

Where is the data stored?

The survey data is stored on a server within the European Union, specifically at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences in Austria.

Data is used exclusively for the project and related scientific purposes. It will not be passed outside the project partnership.

How will results be published?

The results will be published on the project website and in scientific work.

Individual answers will never be made public. Only aggregated analyses will be published.
